What will it cost to have a new bathroom fitted?
How much will it cost to get a new bathroom fitted?
The average bathroom installation cost will range from £1,500 to £3,900 based on 2023 prices, but obviously the price you pay will depend on many factors such as, where you live and how much of the plumbing will need to be relocated. Below is a typical list that any bathroom installer will be asking before they can give you a quote.
Will any of the plumbing need relocating?
Will the new bath, basin, toilet, shower tray all go back in the same place? In most cases it is possible to rearrange the whole bath/shower room but you will incur extra charges for moving, extending or rearranging the plumbing.
Is your electrical wiring up to date with current IEE regulations?
As far as building control is concerned Your bathroom is a special location and any additions to your bathroom circuits are notifiable works, so If you are going to add to your electrical wiring in your bathroom an electrician will firstly need to verify that your electrical installation complies.
Here at GC Bathroom installations, we will establish the condition of your electrical installation (FREE OF CHARGE) and this usually happens when we visit to measure up and give you a quote.
Below is a picture of the underneath of a typical boiler, the electrician will be looking for correct electrical bonding (if it's required) seen here as yellow/green (Earth) Bonding wires linking the copper pipes together and then connecting with the earth terminals back at the fuse box.
Some electrical installations no longer require earth bonding if the fuse box is fitted with Type A RCD's and the plumbing consists of plastic piping.
Will you need to knock through or remove walls?
Obviously, this will add to the cost considerably if your bathroom installer does not have the skills to do this type of work, they will have to sub-contract the work out or they will expect you to get the works done before they can start.
Fortunately, we take care of all the building works so our prices will be much lower, plus it is much easier for you to work with just one contractor.
Do you have a specific style bathroom suit in mind?
If you do then it is quite possible that it will be more expensive along with its matching taps tiles and accessories, so always ask the installer if they can get the same design but cheaper.
